Reading It

Grim tells Rollo he's been here before. Rollo says he knows. Grim tells him he'll be here again. Rollo says he knows. The exchange is stripped of surprise -- both characters recognize the loop, and neither pretends it will break. The comedy is in the exhausted acceptance, not the revelation. You've attended the same annual kickoff meeting for the fifth year and stopped pretending the strategy was new.
