Reading It

Rollo says they're stuck together. Badge calls it partnership. Rollo calls it coercion. Badge responds: 'Same outcome.' The terrifying part isn't that Badge disagrees -- it's that he doesn't. He genuinely sees no difference between partnership and coercion because, functionally, both result in compliance. You've worked with someone who couldn't distinguish between collaboration and obligation.

When coercion and partnership produce the same behavior, the system has no reason to prefer one over the other. And neither does Badge.
